Google Gemini brings your images to life. Using Veo 3, it turns them into short videos

Google is bringing another revolution in the field of artificial intelligence. Its chatbot Gemini now allows converting ordinary photos into dynamic 8-second videos with sound, using the complex Veo 3 model, which recently arrived in the Czech Republic as well. Users thus gain a completely new way to bring their memories, drawings, or any other images stored in their gallery to life.

How does the photo-to-video feature work?

Using the new gadget is surprisingly simple. In the Gemini interface, just select the “Video” option, upload a photo, describe the desired scene, and optionally add requirements regarding sound (Veo 3 automatically adds audio to videos). The artificial intelligence will generate a short video in moments, which can be immediately downloaded or shared with friends. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited – you can animate objects, bring your drawings to life, or add movement to natural scenery.

Google also boasted about the popularity of the new model in a blog post. In the last seven weeks, users have generated an incredible 40 million videos.

Limited availability and emphasis on security

The new Gemini feature is currently being rolled out primarily for subscribers of Google AI Pro and Ultra plans, reportedly in selected countries (you won’t find the Czech Republic or other countries in the European Economic Area on the list yet).

Google then places great emphasis on the security and transparency of generated content. All videos are marked with a visible watermark, as well as invisible marking using SynthID technology, which helps identify AI-generated content. Furthermore, developers regularly perform so-called red teaming, evaluating possible ways to misuse this technology, and actively enforce policies against dangerous content.

Users also have the option to provide feedback – they can rate generated videos with a thumbs up or down, which helps further improve the accuracy and quality of the tool. According to Google, this data is used for continuous algorithm improvement and better understanding of user preferences.
