OnePlus Nord 5 and CE 5 are coming to the Czech Republic! Both phones have decent performance, great displays, and offer nice bonuses

OnePlus is expanding its portfolio in the Czech Republic with two new mid-range models. The OnePlus Nord 5 and Nord CE 5 aim to impress with a combination of solid performance, quality cameras, and fast charging. Interestingly, the European variants have smaller batteries compared to the versions sold in Asia.

OnePlus Nord 5: powerful processor and better materials

The OnePlus Nord 5 is the better-equipped of the two new models. It features a 6.83″ AMOLED display with a resolution of 2800 × 1272 pixels, brightness up to 1400 nits, and a 120Hz refresh rate. Performance is handled by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, which is a very solid processor for the mid-range, providing enough power for everyday use and more demanding applications.

In Asia, the same phone is sold with a significantly larger 6800 mAh battery, while the European version contains „only“ 5200 mAh. Even so, the battery life should be sufficient for a full day of normal use. Charging is done at 80W, so the battery can be charged in approximately 45 minutes.

The main camera has a resolution of 50 Mpx, optical image stabilization, and an aperture of f/1.8. It is complemented by an 8Mpx wide-angle lens. The front 50Mpx selfie camera is above standard, capable of recording video in 4K resolution. The phone body has increased durability according to the IP65 standard, which means complete protection against dust and protection against jet water.

It seems that OnePlus has made improvements where possible. However, there are also compromises. For example, the phone has lost its fast UFS 4.0 storage, which its predecessor boasted, and we also have to accept plastic backs, whereas last year’s model relied on aluminum.

OnePlus Nord CE 5: a more affordable alternative with MediaTek

OnePlus Nord CE 5 is a more affordable variant with slightly weaker specifications. It offers a 6.77″ AMOLED display with a resolution of 2392 × 1080 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. Instead of Snapdragon, it uses the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset, which is less powerful but still more than sufficient for everyday use.

This model also applies the rule that in Asia it is sold with a significantly larger battery – specifically 7100 mAh, while the European version, like the Nord 5, has a 5200 mAh battery. Charging is again done at 80W.

The camera has the same parameters as the more expensive model – a main 50Mpx sensor with optical stabilization and an aperture of f/1.8, complemented by an 8Mpx wide-angle lens. However, the front camera has a lower resolution of 16 Mpx. The protection rating is also slightly lower – IP54, which provides basic protection against dust and splashing water.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 vs. competition

The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 processor in the OnePlus Nord 5 is a very decent choice for its price category. It is an octa-core chip with a main Cortex-A720 core clocked at 2.9 GHz, which provides enough power for all common applications and even more demanding games. However, the recently released POCO F7 can currently beat it in price, offering a newer and more powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 for a similar price.

Both models run on the latest Android 15 with OxygenOS 15 overlay, which is among the cleanest and least burdened manufacturer overlays. It offers fast responses, a minimal amount of pre-installed applications, and overall smooth operation.

Conclusion: interesting mid-range with minor compromises

OnePlus Nord 5 and Nord CE 5 represent solid additions to the mid-range. It’s a shame that the European versions received smaller batteries than the Asian variants, but even so, these are phones with good features. The Nord 5 will please with its 50Mpx selfie camera and better durability, while the CE 5 attracts with a more favorable price.
