Samsung Galaxy S25 FE will likely offer one truly flagship feature, but will it be enough?

Fan editions, or otherwise known as FE variants of the flagship Galaxy S series, haven’t had it easy in their latest iterations. Users and reviewers have recently been increasingly pointing out rather minor intergenerational changes. To make matters worse, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 FE will be no different in this regard – quite the opposite. According to unofficial information, there will be even fewer changes than last time. However, one significant improvement should concern the display used and likely also the physical dimensions.

Flagship Display Type for Galaxy S25 FE

The latest rumors from Samsung’s South Korean homeland suggest that the upcoming new device should receive a flexible display. However, don’t confuse this with foldable displays like those on the Galaxy Fold and Flip. This type of display differs from classic panels in that it lacks a rigid substrate layer; it is definitely not intended for foldable devices. This type of display has been used for some time now practically exclusively by flagship smartphones, as it is understandably more demanding to manufacture and therefore more expensive than a classic panel.

If you’re asking what advantage this technology has for users, the answer is reduced thickness and the possibility of having narrower bezels around the display. According to rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S25 FE is said to have a thickness of only 7.4 mm compared to 8 mm for its predecessor, and the bezels around the display should also improve.

Whether the AMOLED panel will also be flagship-level in other areas such as brightness or variable refresh rate remains to be seen. However, I can remind you that the new device is reportedly expected to feature the same chipset as its predecessor, namely the Exynos 2400s, the same cameras on the back, and the display should again be 6.7″. However, the selfie camera is expected to receive an upgrade, being the same as on the Galaxy S25.
