What can you do with the \"Glyph Matrix\" of the new Nothing Phone (3)? You can even play Spin the Bottle on it

With the third generation of its smartphone, Nothing has revamped the iconic LED array and replaced it with a circular dot-matrix display. This new feature can display everything from the caller’s name to package delivery countdowns and charging percentages.

The manufacturer emphasizes that this is intended to gently draw users away from the main screen; a quick check of the back of the Nothing Phone (3) is meant to replace excessive illumination of the classic display.

Pre-orders for the new device will officially begin on July 4th, on the official Nothing website and on Amazon.

Nothing Phone (3) will offer widgets and mini-games via Glyph Matrix

The basis of the new display on the back of the phone are Glyph Toys. These are miniature applications like a mirror, digital clock, stopwatch, or even the game „Spin the Bottle“. 9to5Google portal captured and published Glyph Toys in action.

There are only a few of them so far, but the company has opened a so-called Software Development Kit, or SDK, which gives independent developers space to also unleash their creativity on potential glyph matrix content.

The Glyph Matrix in its original version also supports a certain degree of customization, so users will have the option to set specific notifications for selected applications; for example, Uber can count down the driver’s arrival on the Glyph interface.
