You no longer have to open boring emails, they can be marked as read in Gmail directly from the notification

If you receive many emails with information that can already be determined from the notification preview, it probably annoys you that you still have to open the app and view the email or manually mark it as read so it doesn’t show up as unread on the Gmail icon. In a near future update, Google will allow you to mark an email as read directly from the notification.

I myself receive a lot of similar emails. Whether they are offers for various discounts that I don’t want to unsubscribe from, but I don’t need to read them entirely. Another example are reports that come from various services, such as a backup power source. The last example I’ll give are emails from e-shops. If I shop somewhere regularly, I know that every purchase is accompanied by several pieces of information that I don’t want to delete, but there’s no need to read them in detail.

And here comes the new feature we can look forward to in the Gmail app. Google is testing displaying the Mark as read action directly in the notification. Currently, the options are only Archive and Reply. The new feature has appeared for a few users who are using the latest version of the app. However, for most users, the new feature hasn’t shown up, so it likely depends on multiple factors and Google is only conducting limited testing.
